Synopsis
When Julia left small town Williston, North Dakota for the big city, she hoped to find the inspiration she needed as a writer. Ten years later as a columnist, her work has become so cynical it's enough to prompt her good friend and boss to send her back home to Williston as a "time out". Julia returns home to snowy Williston where her dad runs a snow removal business. Upon arriving, the town is buzzing about a "snow maze" her childhood friend Nate has built. The maze is a giant awe-inspiring labyrinth of snow which Nate built to inspire visitors to come experience the wonders of winter in Williston. Julia sets out to write an article about the maze while Nate sets out to show Julia that she belongs back home by revisiting all the fun things they did together as kids, from tobogganing off the barn roof and horseback riding, to picking up their old playful back and forth of "dare". Although a daredevil at heart, Julia balks at going through the maze having become lost in a corn maze as a child. But when faced with the decision to either stay in Williston or go back to the city, Julia finally takes the plunge and enters the maze. The journey through the maze opens her eyes to all that she has been missing in the big city and helps her to follow her heart to where it has always been, in snowy Williston with the boy who was always been by her side.
